Jon Robert Transue

Jon Robert Transue, 63, of Tidewater Oregon passed away at his home on August 25, 2024, with family by his side. Born February 3, 1961, in San Diego California, the fifth and youngest son of Edward and Madge Transue. He moved to Tigard, Oregon at age 9, where he lived with family after his father and mother passed away. At 17, Jon enlisted in the US Army and completed Ranger School. He spent time in Africa but most of his time was in Germany. Jon was honorably discharged in 1981.
Jon grew up with a deep love for the woods, which became a defining passion throughout his life. A man of nature, he found joy in the simplicity of the great outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, spending countless hours by the water's edge or in the woods, where he felt most at peace. His love for the wilderness was contagious, and he passed on his knowledge and appreciation of nature to his children.
Jon was also a stargazer, often looking up to the night sky. He found comfort in the vastness of the universe, and his fascination with the stars was a reflection of his contemplative and inquisitive spirit. He cherished his time with loved ones, whether it was sharing stories around a campfire, teaching his children and grandchildren how to fish, or simply enjoying a quiet moment together under the stars.
In his later years Jon was extremely proud to have gained and maintained sobriety for several years. As well as the deep frindships that developed. His family was also very proud of his recovery and his stoicism.
Jon is survived by his children and bonus children, Christina, Curtis, Christopher, Travis, and Lori. grandchildren ; Zoie, Jesse, Owen, Maislyn, Juliette, Brent, Gabriel, Hunter, Nehemiah, Calvin, Madison, Ella and Titus. And 4 sisters; Myra, Diane, Rindy, and Julie and Sandy. And his beloved dog, Lucky.
He is predeceased in death by his parents; Edward and Madge Transue and Alice and Ken Nielsen. And Brothers; Michael, Curtis, Thomas, Scott and Allen.
A celebration of Jon's life will be held on September 26, 10:45 am at Willamette National Cemetery, Portland, Oregon.
