Jonah Edward VanCuren
Jun 17, 1993 - Feb 1, 2025
Jonah Edward VanCuren was born June 17, 1993, with a bright and loving spirit. He was a fine and devoted son to his parents and the oldest brother and best friend to his brothers. On February 1, 2025, Jonah passed into the loving arms of Christ after a three-year battle with Limbic Encephalitis. Jonah attended Highland and Columbia Elementary, Fruitvale Jr. High and Liberty High School. During these fun and memorable years, Jonah served as class president, received Sportsman of the Year and participated in football, basketball and track. His leadership, sense of humor, tenderness, love for others, and outgoing personality contributed to his future successes and relationships. At the early age of 22, Jonah found more than a career at Jim Burke Ford and Lincoln as a salesman, where he was able to use the gifts of his friendly spirit and bright mind. Jonah loved reading, all types of music, basketball, Vegas (playing baccarat), travel, snow skiing, holiday excitement, and Sunday dinners with his family.
Jonah is survived by his loving parents Jason and Tracy, his brothers Justin and Jase, sister-in-law Carly and niece Josie. Jonah was a cherished grandson of Herk Beavan and Jerry and Trina VanCuren. He also leaves behind aunts and uncles: Jim VanCuren, Jennifer Irvin, Rob and Carrie Morgan, Jonathan and Kay Gentry, and cousins Emily (RJ) Puga, Jarrett (Lindsey) VanCuren, Molly (Januar) Saptono, Drew Morgan, Joseph Morgan and Jonas Gentry, along with numerous loving family and friends. Jonah was predeceased by his Beloved Grammy, Lois Beavan and Papa Doug (Gentry).
We are grateful for the care Jonah received from Dr. Jessica Besbris and Emily Downing-Mahli (NP), which extended to our family, the love and support from family and friends, and for the community of prayer warriors who continued to remember Jonah and our family during the time of Jonah’s illness.
A Celebration of Jonah’s Life will be held at 10:00 am Saturday March 8th, at Olive Branch Community Church (12000 Olive Drive), with a luncheon to follow at Senor Pepe’s (8450 Granite Falls).
