Larry Vancuren Obituary

Larry Marlin Vancuren, 78, of Southwest City, Mo., passed peacefully on Wednesday, January 1, at Willard Walker Hospice Home in Fayetteville, due to complications from a stroke in July.

Larry was born in Harrison, on October 24, 1946, the eldest child of Oliver and Lois (Clark) Vancuren. He graduated from Harrison High School in 1963. While living with his uncle and aunt, J.E. and Billie Clark, and attending the University of Arkansas, Larry met James Anna (Jamie) Armes. They were married on May 27, 1967, in Springdale.

In June 1967, Larry received a degree in education. He taught for five years, before a career change to banking. Larry dedicated 50 years to The Cornerstone Bank in Southwest City, Mo.

Larry was an active member and deacon of the First Baptist Church and a dedicated supporter and Trustee of Crowder College. He loved spending time with family and friends, riding the tractor and tending his beef cattle, attending county premium sales, calling the Hogs, and sharing his love of southern gospel music.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Cameron Hall Vancuren.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jamie Vancuren, one son Kevin (Christen) Vancuren, one daughter Ashley (Gary) Morrison, grandchildren: Luke (Jenna) Vancuren, Ross Wilmoth, Gabe Vancuren, and Abri Vancuren, one great granddaughter Oakley Vancuren, and Larry's siblings: Helen (Mike) Fish, Jenny Stinchcomb, Bill Vancuren, Arlin (Kathy) Vancuren, and Randy (Kellie) Vancuren.

Services were held in Southwest City on January 3-4, followed by burial at Friendship Cemetery in Springdale.
