Mr. Jonas Edward Johnson, 64, of McComb, MS, departed this earthly life on Monday, January 19, 2026, at his residence in McComb, MS.

10:00am-12:00pm visitation Saturday, January 31, 2026, at St. Paul Baptist Church in McComb, Larry Banks Pastor; Rev. Welman Taylor Officiating Service following at 12:00 Noon. Interment in the Fernwood Community Cemetery.

Jonas Edward Johnson Sr. was born on May 19, 1961, in McComb, MS, to Jonas Adam Johnson and Mildred Reed Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his parents Jonas Allen Johnson and Mildred Reed Johnson; two brothers Earl Addison, Tyree Johnson, one sister Thelma E. Johnson; Father-in-law James Lewis Sr. and three brothers-in-law.

Jonas was a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church McComb, where he served on the trustee board, sang in the male chorus, and was a member of the Fernwood Cemetery Committee.

He worked for Croft Metals for over 43 years.

He leaves to cherish his memories his devoted wife, Barbara A. Johnson; children Lakesha (Aaron) Thompson, Jonas Edward Johnson Jr., and Joneshia Johnson; 2 grandchildren, Ariya Thompson and Jazariah Brown; 6 sisters, Diane (Billy) Wallace, Lucille Magee, Mattie (Bradley) Dobbs, Dorothy Helen Johnson, Annie Lewis, and Francine Dixon; mother-in-law, Eula B. Lewis; 1 aunt, Irene (Percy) Landrews; 2 uncles, Dewitt Reed (Gertrude) and Tyree Reed; 1 sister-in-law, Sherice Lewis; brothers-in-law James Lewis Jr., L.C. (Debra) Lewis, and Micheal Lewis; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and coworkers.
