Jonathan "Big Jon" Benito, a cherished soul whose generosity and kindness touched the lives of many, passed away suddenly and peacefully at the age of 42 due to natural causes on January 7, 2025, in San Francisco, CA surrounded and survived by his mother, 2 sisters & brother.
Survived by his mother Evelyn, older sisters Joelyn and Jossie, and younger brother JFK. He is pre deceased by his father Jose, paternal grandparents Dominador and Socorro Benito, and maternal grandparents Gonzalo and Zenaida Zaguirre.
Born on June 18, 1982, in Walnut Creek, CA, to his parents Jose & Evelyn Benito. Preceded in death by Big Jon's presence brought light and laughter to all who knew him.
A proud graduate of Vallejo High School's class of 2000, Jon was known for his sharp wit and analytical mind, which served him well throughout his life. He built a fulfilling career at Lowe's Home Improvement and then Ace Hardware, where he started as a forklift operator and through his dedication and hard work, rose to the position of supervisor. His colleagues remember him as a gentle leader who was always ready to lend a hand or share a kind word.
Big Jon was a man of many passions. His love for spending time with family and friends was unmatched, and he was often the heart of gatherings, sharing stories and laughter. A sports enthusiast, Jon could be found cheering on his favorite teams, and he never missed an opportunity to discuss the latest game with all the stats and facts. Video games and wrestling were among his favorite pastimes, providing endless entertainment and a way to connect with others who shared his interests.
As a self-taught guitarist, Jon's musical talents were a gift to all who heard him play. His involvement with the Holy Spirit Church in Fairfield was a testament to his faith and community spirit. He played the guitar with the choir, bringing joy and upliftment to many through his music. Jon's faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding his actions and interactions with those around him.
Beyond his church activities, Jon's leisure time was often spent on the golf course or at the bowling alley. He approached each game with the same patience and care that he applied to every aspect of his life.
Those who knew Jon would describe him as a man of immense kindness and gentleness, a big teddy bear. His analytical approach to problems, combined with his compassionate heart, made him a trusted confidant and friend. He approached life with a quiet strength and a deep sense of empathy, qualities that endeared him to all. Even with suffering from long-term health problems he was willing to help others in need by donating blood regularly. Even with his passing he was able to help countless others by donating his tissue for those in need.
Jonathan Benito's legacy is one of love, service, and joy. His impact on the world was as profound as it was quiet, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. As we bid farewell to Big Jon, we celebrate a life well-lived and cherish the memories he leaves behind. Gone too soon, but he is in a better place with no more pain or suffering.
A viewing and memorial celebration of life service will be held at Skyview Memorial Lawn, 200 Rollingwood Dr.,
Vallejo, CA 94591, on Sunday, January 19, 2025 from 3 pm - 7 pm.
