Michael Hoehn Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Twin Chapels Mortuary on Nov. 25, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Mike passed away unexpectedly on November 20, 2025 at the age of 59 at his home in Fairfield, California. He was born in Vallejo, California to Shelia Gann-Husted and John Hoehn on March 29, 1966.

As a youth, though hampered by a medical condition that affected his legs, he excelled in little league baseball making the all stars multiple times for his hitting prowess. As a teen several friends and cousins playing a prank, tied him to a tree and painted him green. Someone said, "He looks like a pickle". The nick name stuck and he was affectionately known as "Pickles" ever since.

Mike graduated from Vallejo High School in 1984, attended Heald Business College before enlisting in the U.S. Army, where he served in Germany. In the Army, he was recognized for his precision shooting and became a marksman. Following his military service, Mike returned to California and held several sales positions before joining Vallejo Transit as a bus driver. He later became a warehouseman for Kaiser Permanente, then transitioned to a position as a member services representative at Kaiser Vallejo's call center, where he remained until his passing. He was a 20-year employee of Kaiser.

Mike was an avid sports fan, and the San Francisco 49ers and Oakland A's were his favorite teams. He loved watching the Little League World Series and also enjoyed the World Series of Poker. As a father and later a grandfather, he was a dedicated fan of his children and grandchildren in all their sporting endeavors. Whether it was gymnastics, baseball, football, or soccer, he was always there. He was well known by coaches and parents alike for his booming voice and boisterous support during games.

Mike was an avid reader from a young age and, as a result, was knowledgeable in many subjects. He would read the newspaper from cover to cover and resisted the trend to electronic media until recently, when the San Francisco Chronicle stopped home delivery. He finally relented, and you would find him routinely reading his tablet with his morning cup of coffee.

He was loved and known by all as a generous man. He was a real-life Santa Claus to his children and grandchildren, bringing true joy with an abundance of gifts at Christmas and on birthdays.

He enjoyed stand-up comedy and was very funny himself. During family gatherings, he would be the life of the party, holding court and keeping everyone laughing with his quick wit and spontaneous jokes. It was often said he should have been a comedian.

Mike is survived by his wife, Deseriee Malvaez-Hoehn; siblings Mary (Art) Narverud, Melissa (Jarrel) Benjamin, Mark Hoehn and Victor Erik Raahauge; children Steven Joshua Hoehn, Jennifer Michelle Hoehn, Tiffany Malvaez, Donea Valdez, Cherice Valdez, and Angie Valdez; grandchildren Adrian Baze Cabrera, Luke Lee Hoehn, Savannah Michelle Jensen, Dezeriee Giavanna Valdez, Julianna Renee Valdez, Tristen Wayne Valdez, and Aria Anne Valdez.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother Mary Gann, parents Shelia Gann-Husted and John Hoehn, brother JR Hoehn, and son Sean Paul Meeker.

A rosary service will be held at Twin Chapels in Vallejo on December 4th at 6:00 p.m., and a funeral service will also be held at Twin Chapels on December 5th at 11:00 a.m.

I miss you so much, I´d like to thank our heavenly Father for every moment and every day of our entire time together, no matter how angry, no matter how many silly mistakes, we both, now in our mature part of our lifetime (you see I left out golden years or mature as far as our old age lol) found our way back together.
You are one of a kind my husband, my partner, my best friend!! And as long as I draw breath I ll speak about you and I´ll smile and I´ll cry but it will only be because I am so happy to have been your wife , Ty, this isn´t goodbye, this is save me a seat for some day ( no rush) but I´m waiting until the time we see each other again Mr Hoehn
All my love , my heart is yours eternally

Rest in peace, Michael. You were always the light of the party with your big voice, your jokes, and the way you could make any room feel alive. You were caring, sensitive, loving, and those qualities made you an incredible friend. I´m humbled and grateful to have crossed paths with such a beautiful soul. My heart is broken, but I take comfort in believing we´ll meet again in the next life. I´ll miss you forever.
