Ed graduated from Vallejo Senior High, served proudly in the US Army and married his high school sweetheart, Charlotte Marie Cattalini. After his service, he began a 32-year career with UPS, retiring in 1994. In his later years he enjoyed working as a golf marshal at Silverado Resort and Blue Rock Springs Golf Club. Ed was cherished by all who knew him. He maintained close ties with his classmates, generously volunteered his time maintaining sport fields and coached baseball from Little League through American Legion.
Ed truly enjoyed life - whether golfing, volunteering in his community, appreciating a good cigar and brandy or hosting backyard BBQs surrounded by family and friends. He never missed a chance to connect, laugh, or share a handful of Halloween candy. After Charlotte's passing, Ed found love again with Cynthia Fitzpatrick. Together they traveled, laughed often, and made their home in Peoria, AZ. He is survived by his wife, Cynthia; children Michael (Cheryl) Hewitt, Dan (Kym) Hewitt, and Kirstine (Jim) Bunn; 10 grandchildren including Michael (Angie) Perry, Christopher (Erica) Perry, Sean (fiancé Elyza) Hewitt, Kameron Witt, Dylan Hewitt, Emma Hewitt, Samuel Bunn, Joshua Bunn, Austin Fitzpatrick, Meghan McKone and great grandson Jackson Perry, his brother Ernie (Glenys) Hewitt and many beloved nieces and nephews. Ed's legacy is one of kindness, generosity and a zest for life. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Vigil/Rosary Services will be held Friday, November 21 at 6 PM at St. Dominic's Church, 475 East I St., Benicia, CA.
Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, November 22 at 11 AM at St. Dominic's Church.
Burial with Honors will be held Monday, November 24 at 9 AM at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, 5810 Midway Road, Dixon, Ca.
