Professor Billheimer,
I am the student of history I am today because of you. Your classes and advisement as my advisor proved to be some of the most pivotal moments of my undergrad career and I´ll never be able to thank you enough for that. It is because of you that I had the courage to truly ask myself what I want out of my life and pursue it. Your passion for history was clear in every lecture and I´ve only ever wanted to emulate that in my studies and career. I start graduate school soon and I know I couldn´t have done it without your incredibly kind words of recommendation and constant support. I plan to become a professor of my own in the next couple of years and I will spend every day teaching with what I hope can come close to the passion you had. I hope to carry on your legacy with every class of students I have the joy to teach. My deepest condolences to your family and may you rest in peace.

Dr. Billheimer,
I am the historian and teacher I am today because of you. You inspired me to teach. I love the way you told history like it was a story. I wanted to be like you when I grew up. 10 years after graduation, and 10 years into education, I´d say I still have a ways to go. You never knew my name or the impact you had upon me but I will never forget the day you read my essay in class as a sample for everyone after the first test. I will continue to carry on your legacy and love of history to my students. Rest easy.
