Date of Death: March 27, 2025
Date of Birth: December 13, 1988
Jonathan Michael Darling, age 36, died unexpectedly on the evening of March 25th due to COPD complications at their home in Chelsea Maine. Though his heart starting beating again, machines were keeping him alive, he was officially declared braindead on March 27th in the ICU in Portland, Maine. Born on December 13, 1988, he is the oldest son of and survived by his mother Jennifer Granger, and father Jon Darling.
He is survived by his brothers Matthew Darling and TJ Slaton and sisters Allisha Darling, Hope Flagg (husband Caleb) Tanya Darling, and Emily Slaton. As well as his devoted life partner Angel Darling and her children Kristina Vaillancourt, Tyler Vaillancourt and Kristina's boyfriend Eben Marston. He leaves behind his five biological children Jenna Darling 17, Justin Darling 13, Jaxon Darling 11, Raiden Darling 6, and Evelette Darling 3. As well as his boxer dog Ripley, who he enjoyed many adventures with. He is also survived by his grandmother Gemma Granger, Uncle Stephen Granger (wife Laurie) Aunt Jaime Clark (husband Chris) their two children, as well as several cousins, other family members and many friends.
He is predeceased by his grandfather Gerard Granger.
He was a hard worker who worked some hard labor jobs, like the years he dedicated to the sawmill and wood work at KFP (Katahdin Forest Products), as well as construction. He enjoyed any time he could spend with his loved ones. Whether it was a beach day, hike, Funtown, or the fair. Jonathan was a true family man! He was always the main caretaker of his children, animals and partners. He was always there to help when he could, He has always been a fighter who battled against addiction. He was currently clean and sober and was doing amazing shortly before he lost the battle against COPD.
Its hard to believe that he was taken away so soon. His charming, funny, extremely caring, loving, and giving personality will be missed by so many! He was a very smart man always giving great advice, as well as being good with communication. He was always doing or saying something to make people laugh. Even in death he honorably donated his organs to help those in need. He saved four peoples lives and gave another one eyesight with his corneas.
To anyone reading this; please remember that breathing out is as important as breathing in (to avoid co2 buildup in your body) and if you're ever having issues breathing, even if you have medicine at home, choose to go to the hospital. The world lost an incredible man way too soon.
May he always be remembered in all the hearts he has touched.
A celebration of life will be announced soon.
