Jonathan Dale Finley, was born on September 2, 1978, in Selmer, Tennessee. He was the son of Dennis Dale and Sheryl Lynn Carlson Finley.
Jonathan married the love of his life, Leigh Powell, on July 13, 2005. Together, they created a home filled with laughter, love, and cherished memories.
A dedicated worker, Jonathan thrived at Finley Contracting, side by side with his brother and partner, Joel. An avid outdoorsman, Jonathan embraced the river life, teaching his children to share his passion for fishing and the love of the river. Weekend visits to the river were not just opportunities to fish; they were treasured moments spent with family and friends, where joy flowed as freely as the water.
When he wasn’t reveling in the wonders of nature, Jonathan found exhilaration on the racetrack alongside his dear friend Nick Moore. His zest for life was contagious, marked by a magnetic personality and a resounding love for those around him. Jonathan was more than just a racing enthusiast; he was a tinkerer at heart, always eager to take things apart and rebuild them with improvements.
Above all, Jonathan cherished his family. His devotion was evident in every interaction, whether as a loving son and husband, dedicated father or favorite uncle, showering his nieces, nephews, and bonus kids with affection. He also proudly served as a member of Station 12 – Leapwood Volunteer Fire Department, a true commitment and responsibility to his community.
Jonathan departed from this life on October 14, 2024, at the age of 46, leaving behind a legacy of love and adventure. He is survived by his wife, Leigh Finley of Adamsville, TN; their children, Hayley and Camron Finley both of Adamsville, TN; his parents, Dennis and Sheryl Finley of Adamsville, TN; his brother, Joel and wife Jennifer, along with their children, Baylee, Morgan, Bella, and Case all of Adamsville, TN; his in-laws, Rufus and Debbie Powell of Memphis, TN; sister-in-law, Allie Vaughn and her husband Jordan, and their children, Emmy, Brooks, and Sloane all of Oakland, TN; his close friend and extended brother, Nick Moore of Adamsville, TN; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends whose lives he touched.
He is preceded in death by two brothers, Joshua Clint Finley and Justin Carl Finley, as well as his grandparents, J.C. and Virginia Finley, and Mary Lois and Ronald Herbert Carlson, Sr.
The love and joy he shared will continue to resonate through the lives he touched. May we continue to honor and celebrate the life of Jonathan — a life of adventure, love, and unforgettable memories.
