Jonathan Victor Howard

Jonathan V. Howard, 90, of Manhattan, New York, passed away on August 14, 2024. 

 Jonathan was born in Manhattan, New York on November 17, 1933, to the late Charles Howard and Charlotte Hackl.

 Along with his parents, Jonathan is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Margaret Mary Howard, and his sisters Constance Kenney and her husband George Kenney, Eddy (Ethel) Brown, Charlotte Howard, Charis Kalman, Betty Howard, and his sister-in-law Catherine Dunn and her husband Thomas Dunn.

 He is survived by his daughters Elizabeth Faust and Patricia Boucetta, his grandchildren Brandon Boucetta, Brianna Boucetta, Noelle Boucetta and Nicole Boucetta, and his sister-in-law Virginia Laslo and her husband Herb Laslo.

 A funeral service with Military Honors will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025, 12:30pm, at Salisbury National Cemetery, where both Jonathan and his wife Margaret will be commemorated. The service will be livestreamed and may be viewed below or by clicking VIEW LIVESTREAM.

 Elizabeth Faust (Howard)

 Our father was a good man of the highest moral character, and he worked hard to take care of his family. He always stood up for what was right without fear. After my mom’s death, he longed to be with her so this was God’s plan and now he is with her in heaven with our precious Jesus. All is well.

 He left a legacy of what it means to do what is right and stand for what you believe, just as our mother did. I am honored to be their daughter and will try to uphold the high standards they portrayed in their time here on earth. He will be missed.

 My Dad was such a wonderful, patient, wise man. He worked in New York City for decades, supporting our family. He played many sports and encouraged myself and my sister to do the same, which we eventually excelled at. Him and my Mom played tennis each weekend at the local park. They took us to the beach and park, on road trips, and gave us such a good appreciation of those things. He was always calm no matter what crazy things we got into, and he was my number one person to talk to about any subject. What I loved and will miss most about him is his caring and compassion towards me. He could always immediately feel what I was feeling and sense what I needed to hear, without just “giving advice.” I remember him sitting with me as a child after I had gone through dental surgery, and it comforted me so much. 

 Him and my Mom were such great grandparents. They visited New York from their home in South Carolina very often and spent weeks with us, babysitting to give me a break, playing with the kids, going to school events, and taking them to the park. We visited them in South Carolina several times a year as the kids grew up, and we spent a couple weeks every summer at their home. They took us to the local zoo, water parks, local pool, park, and other great places. I am so grateful that my children had their love and caring for many, many years. 

 My Dad and Mom were absolutely precious to me and they will be greatly missed by myself and my children. Their being together now is a great comfort. They are surely smiling down on us for eternity.
