Jonathan Janes, a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed on March 9, 2026. He was born on March 9, 1972, in Oak Lawn, Illinois, to the late David Janes and Rosie Crawhorn Kennedy.
Jonathan was a devoted family man who took great joy in spending time with his loved ones. His passion for fishing reflected his love for nature and the serene moments spent in companionship. Whether he was out on the water or gathered around a table with family and friends, Jonathan’s warm spirit and sense of humor enriched every gathering.
He leaves behind a loving family that will forever hold his memory dear. His sister, Denise Oprzedek (Bryan) of Chicago Ridge, Illinois, along with his brothers Sammy Janes of Lexington, Kentucky, Carl Smith of Greensburg, Kentucky, and Walter Janes of Chicago, Illinois. Jonathan is also survived by his uncle, Charlie Crawhorn (Bernice) of Columbia, Kentucky, and aunts Lou Burton (Noel) of Campbellsville, Kentucky, and Carrie Rowe of Chicago, Illinois. He was a cherished uncle to several nieces and nephews, as well as a beloved cousin to many.
Jonathan is also preceded in death by his brothers, Randy Janes and David Janes, who surely welcomed him with open arms. Their memories will continue to resonate within the hearts of all who knew them.
In honoring Mr. Janes wishes the family chose cremation and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
