Jon Johansen, a man who could fix just about anything while explaining the right ingredients to his favorite dish, passed away on December 29, 2025 at the age of 54.
Born on a crisp autumn day, October 20, Jon lived his life with the kind of high-octane energy and warmth that made him well known wherever he went. He was the kind of guy who didn't just walk into a room; he arrived. Within five minutes of meeting a stranger, Jon would know their life story, their dog's name, and likely have offered to help them fix their lawnmower.
A Man of Many Talents
Jon was a rare breed: a "mechanical wizard" that also excelled at every tailgate sport including frisbee, hacky sack, horse shoes, and fire sticks. But his talents didn't stop at the toolbox. Jon possessed a green thumb that produced the best vegetables, though he'd never admit how much he pampered his garden.
When he wasn't tending to his plants or working with his hands, Jon was likely:
· Manning the Grill: He was happiest with a spatula in one hand and a cold drink in the other.
· Cheering (and Sighing): A lifelong, die-hard fan of the Cleveland Browns, Jon's loyalty was unwavering, proving that he actually had patience.
· In Nature: He found peace hiking the local park trails, usually stopping to greet every hiker he encountered.
A Legacy of Laughter
More than his skills, Jon will be remembered for his gregarious personality and a sense of humor that could lighten the heaviest of rooms. He was a "giver" in the truest sense-giving his time, his expertise, and his heart to anyone who needed it.
He leaves behind a family who loved him and friends who will deeply miss his booming laugh and his ability to make everyone feel like the most important person in the world.
Jon is survived by Patsy and Richard Swaino, Jim and Linda Johansen, Lindsay Johansen, Jamie Johansen,
The family will receive guests on Saturday, January 31, 2026 from 12- 1pm at the Hummel Funeral Home located at 3475 Copley Rd. Copley, OH 44321. A prayer service will follow at 1pm.
"In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you take a long walk in the woods, listen to some loud live music, and root for the Browns."
