Jonathan Kelly Krueger passed away at the Oklahoma City VA Hospital on December 9, 2025.
Known as Kelly to his family but as Jon to his friends, he was born January 21, 1970, in
Wichita, Kansas. After he was adopted by David and Dorothy Krueger in 1978, he was sealed to them as part of their eternal family for eternity in the Salt Lake City temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As part of the adoption process, he chose Jonathan as his first name.
Kelly served In Korea during his four years in the U.S. Army. He earned a degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice from Vincennes University. He served as a case worker for the Indiana and Oklahoma Departments of Human Services as well as in group homes for disadvantaged children. He loved being able to help kids who were in his care.
When health issues prevented him from working full-time, he continued to be of service as a substitute teacher and as a foster parent. In 2023, he adopted one of his foster children, Jonathan Kelly Krueger, Jr., who everyone knows as Gabe.
Kelly is survived by his son, adoptive parents (Dave and Dorothy Krueger), biological mother (Carolyn Clemens,), and nine siblings. His adopted family siblings are Marla (Paul) Kimmell, David (Missy) Krueger Jr, Daniel (Elisa) Krueger, Darcy (Debbie) Krueger, Dana (Greg) Rex, and Deana (Joseph) Pfannschmidt. His biological siblings are Rhonda Treckell, George Wetzel Jr, and Jason (Samantha) Wetzel. He also leaves many cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on December 27, 2025 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Norman Oklahoma. He will be interred in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Pratt, Kansas where his paternal grandfather is buried.
