Today we honor the life of Richard Geiger-known to many as Rick, but lovingly known as Papa. Born on November 11, 1941, in Pennsylvania, and called home on January 22, 2026, in
Norman, Oklahoma, Papa lived a life defined by devotion, humility, and selfless service.
A proud United States Marine, Papa carried his sense of duty far beyond his years in uniform. For 61½ beautiful years, he was a devoted and loving husband to Kathleen Geiger, building a life rooted in faith, commitment, and unconditional love. He was a remarkable father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose presence brought steadiness, wisdom, and warmth to every generation of his family.
Papa lived his life in service-to his country, his church, and his community. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, the VFW, the American Legion, the Golden Agers, and the bingo committee, always giving his time quietly and faithfully. At St. Joseph Church, he served as a sacristan, taught First Communion, participated in Cursillo, and brought joy to others through something as simple and cheerful as line dancing.
Yet, of all his acts of service, his greatest devotion was always his family. Papa showed his love not through grand gestures, but through presence-through meaningful conversations, rides to practice, shared meals, and moments of quiet care. Every minute spent with him mattered, because to him, every person mattered.
His legacy is not found only in what he did, but in who he was-a man of integrity, faith, sacrifice, and love. That legacy lives on through the family he cherished, and it now becomes the responsibility of the generations who follow to carry his values forward with the same grace and strength he lived by.

Papa's life was a blessing, his love a gift, and his memory a guiding light that will remain with us always. He taught us to forgive one another no matter what. Because God forgives us, we ought to forgive others as He forgives us.
A special tradition close to Papa's heart was celebrating his birthday on Veterans Day. Each year, he traveled to Branson to watch the Veterans Day parade-a joyful reminder of his pride in service and love for his country.
