He was born Dec. 22, 1981, in Sandusky, and was a 2000 graduate of Perkins High School. Jonathan earned his bachelor's degree in business and marketing from University of Toledo. He used his education and communication skills as a contractor in construction. He enjoyed all sports, especially golfing with his family. He is survived by his parents, Rick and Terry (Schwanger) Souter of Sandusky; brother, Andrew Souter of Sandusky; nephew and niece, Mason and Ariel Souter; fiancé, Lex Bolanis; aunts, Tammy (Paul) Wilke and Tricia (Barry) Embler; uncle, Bill (Lisa) Souter; and several cousins, friends, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ted and Diane Schwanger; paternal grandparents, William and Jean Souter; and uncle, Toby Schwanger.

Jonathan's memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, 2023, at Lost Sailor Inn (formerly First Congregational United Church of Christ), 431 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Pastor Trevor Ryan will officiate. A celebration of Jonathan's life will immediately follow the memorial service at Vita, 256 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. At this time, everyone is invited to share memories with his family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Celebrate Recovery, in care of The Chapel, 4444 Gallaway Road, Sandusky, Ohio, 44870, or Christ-Centerered Addition Group, in care of Emmanuel United Church of Christ, 334 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, Ohio, 44870.

Jonathan was courageous and kind. A rare combination. He carved his own unique path in this world, and found his way home again to a family that supported his unique journey. His twinkling eyes that looked right through you, even as a child, were windows into a deep soul that chose to travel this life his way. Rave on, in all the journeys to come. You will always be a part of us.
