Jorge Luis Figueroa, cariñosamente conocido como "Papo," falleció en paz el 17 de octubre de 2025 en el hospital HCA Largo en Largo, Florida. Nació el 1 de junio de 1946 en Jayuya, Puerto Rico, y dondequiera que iba, llevaba consigo la alegría, el humor y el ritmo de su tierra.
Orgullosamente puertorriqueño, Papo fue un hombre con la música en el corazón y la familia en el alma. Dedicó más de 30 años al Departamento de Dietética del Hospital Our Lady of Mercy y con su carisma se ganó el cariño de todos los que lo conocieron.
Fuera del trabajo, se le encontraba en el campo de sóftbol con una Heineken en la mano, jugando con el equipo del hospital o escuchando su música de salsa favorita.
En sus últimos años, Jorge "Papo" disfrutaba de los placeres sencillos de la vida. Le encantaba sentarse bajo su árbol de lichi, disfrutando de la sombra, saboreando la fruta fresca y relajándose con su cerveza Heineken favorita. También escuchaba su música de Salsa y Jíbarito, dejando que los sonidos de su tierra llenaran el aire mientras sonreía y veía pasar el día. Esos momentos tranquilos reflejaban perfectamente su espíritu alegre y su amor por las cosas buenas de la vida.
Fue un esposo, padre, hermano, hijo y abuelo devoto, un hombre que amó profundamente y vivió con plenitud. Le sobreviven su amada esposa, Doris, sus hijos Jorge Jr. y Marisol, sus hijastros Edgar, Felix, Victor y Joel, y sus queridos nietos Samantha, Jillian, Derrick Jr., Nicole, Eliesha, Vivica, Felicity, Janelle, Laila, Kelisa y Joel "Jojo." Los amó a todos como si fueran propios.
Jorge "Papo" pasó sus últimos años en Saint Petersburg, Florida, rodeado de su familia, buena música y sol. Todo lo que reflejaba su espíritu alegre.
La familia invita a todos sus familiares y amigos a celebrar su vida el sábado, 25 de octubre de 2025, en el Memorial Park Funeral Home, ubicado en 5750 49th Street N., Saint Petersburg, FL 33782. La velada comenzará a las 4:00 PM, seguida de una recepción.
Como decía Jorge "Papo," "¡Dale pa' abajo!" porque la vida se hizo para vivirla con ritmo, risas y mucho amor.

Jorge Luis Figueroa, lovingly known as "Papo," passed away peacefully on October 17, 2025, at HCA Largo Hospital in Largo, Florida. He was born on June 1, 1946, in Jayuya, Puerto Rico, and brought joy, laughter, and rhythm everywhere he went.
A proud Puerto Rican through and through, Papo was a man who lived life with music in his heart and family at the center of his world. He dedicated over 30 years to the Dietary Department at Our Lady of Mercy Hospital and made friends with nearly everyone he met along the way.
When he wasn't working, you could find him on the softball field with a Heineken in hand, playing for the hospital team or listening to his favorite salsa music.
In his later days, Jorge "Papo" found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved sitting beneath his lychee tree, enjoying the shade, picking its sweet fruit, and relaxing with his favorite Heineken beer. He often listened to his Salsa and Jíbarito music, letting the sounds of home fill the air while he smiled and watched the day go by. Those peaceful moments perfectly captured his easygoing spirit and love for the good things in life.
He was a devoted husband, father, brother, son, and grandfather, a man who loved deeply and lived fully. He is survived by his beloved wife, Doris, his children Jorge Jr. and Marisol, his step-sons Edgar, Felix, Victor, and Joel, and his cherished grandchildren Samantha, Jillian, Derrick Jr., Nicole, Eliesha, Vivica, Felicity, Janelle, Laila, Kelisa, and Joel "Jojo." He loved them all as his own.
Jorge "Papo" spent his final years in Saint Petersburg, Florida, surrounded by family, good music, and sunshine. These were the things that reflected his vibrant spirit.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Memorial Park Funeral Home, located at 5750 49th Street N., Saint Petersburg, FL 33782. Visitation will begin at 4:00 PM, followed by a reception.
As Jorge "Papo" would say, "¡Dale pa' abajo!" because life is meant to be lived with rhythm, laughter, and love.
