Jorge L. Flores

Jorge L. Flores, 70, passed away at home, January 6, 2025, at the age of 70.
He was born on January 31, 1954, in La Piedad, Mexico, and was the son of Maria Teresa Gonzalez Flores of Mexico and the late Leandro Flores. He was the 2nd oldest of 10 children in a large loving family.
As a young man in Mexico, Jorge excelled in sports and was a member of the Mexican National Basketball team. This afforded him the opportunity to travel the world. In 1975 he played in the Pan American games and in 1976 he represented Mexico in the Olympic games in Montreal Canada.
After moving to East Liverpool, he attended Kent State University where earned an associate degree. He also was a member of the successful Kent State Bridgers basketball team.
He worked and was active with the YMCA Youth Basketball Leagues for many years. He also fondly remembered his years playing volleyball with local teams. He enjoyed traveling the valley playing in men's basketball leagues with lifelong friends.
He worked at Homer Laughlin China Company until his retirement.
Jorge will be deeply missed by his wife, Patricia Reuter-Flores and their children, Dustin Flores of Columbus and Eric Flores (fiancé Jeanna) and their daughter, Raina. He is also survived by his eldest son to whom he passed on his love of basketball, Stephen Flores and his wife, Jen of Boardman and their children, Maya and Michael. Jorges siblings were, Humberto, Laura, Raul, Jesus Ernesto, Teresa De Jesus Ma. Del Rocio, Susana Leticia, Jose Leandro Flores.
He was preceded in death by his brother Mario Flores; and son, Richard Flores.
In accordance with Jorge's wishes no services are planned currently. He is in the care of the Arner Funeral Chapel.
