Tina Marie Humbert

Tina Marie Humbert, beloved by so many, passed away peacefully Friday, March 20, 2026, with family by her side. She was 50. Tina was born on August 17, 1975, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Carl and Bonita Winterich of Hudson, Ohio. In 2005, Tina married Captain Jason Humbert (Ret.) and together they raised Tina's proudest achievements in life, her three children: Jake (19), Chloe (17) and Lyla (15). She loved being a Mom. A graduate of Hudson High School and Kent State University, Tina earned a degree in early childhood education and began her teaching career in Snow Hill, N.C. In 2001 she joined the Center for Young Children in College Park Maryland enriching the lives of countless young learners while also mentoring undergraduates at the University of Maryland. In 2005, she began working as a kindergarten teacher for Loudoun County Public Schools and most recently taught at Loudoun Country Day School in Leesburg, Va. As a volunteer of Backpack Buddies Program, she packed and delivered food to schools, ensuring that no child went hungry. For a brief time, Tina was the after school Mom to a dozen neighborhood children, where she could be found making snacks for the kids, doing art and playing games. An avid reader, she found joy in the simple pleasure of a good book on the beach, her toes happily buried in the sand. She was an avid nature lover which was reflected in her enthusiasm for hikes and rides through scenic, tree-lined streets. She loved animals of all kinds, including her own two dogs, Rocky and Skye; and her two cats, Holly and Ziggy. Tina faced and won a monumental health battle with Hodgkin's Lymphoma in 2011. As a champion for Blood Cancer United, she participated annually in the Light the Night event in Reston, Va., raising funds for research and offering support for others facing similar challenges. Tina is survived by her siblings: her sisters, Lisa (Dave) Umphrey and Teresa (Matt) Brunner; and brother, Chris (Beckie) Winterich, all from Ohio; as well as her in-laws, Joseph Humbert and the late Patricia Humbert of Washington and Dr. Nicholas and Commander Renee Humbert of Ashburn, Va.; Ten nieces and nephews: Triston and Anna Umphrey; Samantha, Sabrina and Sonya Winterich; Charlie, Brecken and Bryce Brunner; and Kelsie and Heath Humbert. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 27, at Busch-Romito Funeral Home, 99 W. Aurora Road, Northfield Center, Ohio. Tina's Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 28, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 340 N. Main Street, Hudson, Ohio. (EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH.)
