Jorge Galindo Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Marry Funeral Home - Tecumseh Chapel on Jan. 28, 2026.
Jorge Enrique Galindo, age 95, of Tecumseh, MI, gained his heavenly wings on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at home, surrounded by family and in the loving care of Hospice of Lenawee. Jorge was born May 14, 1930, in Ramiriquí, Colombia, to Francisco A. Galindo and Pacífica (Guerrero) Galindo.

He traveled to the United States as a young man to attend Eastern Michigan University, where he met Lois K. Kiser. Jorge shared 24 years of marriage with Lois, with whom he raised six children. Family was the center of Jorge's life, and he approached fatherhood with patience, steadiness, and deep devotion. Nothing brought him more joy than spending time with his family. Each of his children and grandchildren were loved unconditionally and guided by his example of hard work, quiet strength, and showing up for the people you love.

Jorge was proud to become a United States citizen in 1976 and was passionate about the importance of democracy and exercising the right to vote. If he wasn't sleeping, Jorge was always on the move, mowing the lawn, doing the dishes, shoveling snow or folding laundry. Acts of service was his love language. His passion for serving others was rooted in his deep Christian faith and evident through multiple mission trips and countless acts of kindness toward friends, neighbors, and strangers alike.

A lifelong man of science and curiosity, Jorge built a successful 35-year career as a chemist at Wacker Chemical before retiring. Beyond the lab, he enjoyed friendly competition with coworkers in the company bowling league at Ten Pin Bowling Alley. A devoted Detroit sports fan, Jorge loved watching his teams compete. At home, he expressed his care through cooking, delighting family with favorites like his famous chicken soup and BBQ ribs.

Over the course of nearly a century, Jorge witnessed immense change and historic moments, meeting life's challenges with quiet determination and its joys with gratitude. Dementia slowly changed many things, but it never erased who he was at his core. Even as memories faded, his gentleness remained. His family learned new ways to love him, discovering that connection lives not only in recollection, but in touch, tone, and simply being together. Through it all, he taught us patience, compassion, and the enduring power of love.

He leaves behind a family built on the strong foundation he created; one shaped by his values, his kindness, and his unwavering presence. He never called himself extraordinary, but the life he shared with us was exactly that. His influence extends far beyond his immediate family to all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the lessons he taught, and the love he gave so freely.

We take comfort in knowing he is now at peace, free from the burdens of illness, reunited with memories once lost, and resting in the fullness of a life well lived.

Jorge is survived by his children: Maureen (Mark) Bell of Belton, MO; Jim "Jamie" (Laura) Galindo of Carleton; Anita Mosier of Chelsea; Susan "Tracy" (Mark) DiSanto of Sterling Heights; David (Keesha) Galindo of Austin, TX; and Patricia "Trisha" (Josh) Barth of Tecumseh; his brothers Alfredo, Gilberto, and Mariano; sisters Estela, Ines, Mery, Rosalba, and Lucy; grandchildren Michael Bell, Jonathon (Ashley) Bell, Christyn (Dallas) Tharp, Josh (Jennifer) Galindo, Christina (Kevin) Brown, Adam Galindo, Fallon Mosier, Laura Mosier, Olivia DiSanto, Vanessa DiSanto, Jude Galindo, Destiny Cook, and Isabella Barth; great-grandchildren Carter Bell, Crosby Bell, Colson Bell, Camden Bell, Myryam Tharp, Killian Tharp, Leona Tharp, Annabel Tharp and Keiran Brown; and numerous nephews, nieces, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Ana Baron; two sisters, Isabel and Marina; two brothers, Francisco and Efraín; and good friend, Joy Starr.

Cremation has taken place at his request. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions in his honor may be made to Hospice of Lenawee, The Alzheimer's Association, or the American Heart Association. The Marry Funeral Home - Tecumseh Chapel, is assisting with arrangements.
