Jorge Rios Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Boyd-Panciera Family Funeral Care - Pembroke Pines Chapel on Dec. 9, 2025.
My dad, Jorge L. Rios, sadly passed away on black Friday, November 28, 2025. He had a short battle with lung cancer. It was not a good day. We painfully had to let the "glue" of our family pass away, but we find solace in knowing that he's now in Heaven with loved ones that have preceded him, Jesus and God.

My dad is survived by his wife and soulmate, Holly Rios, his daughter Nichole Rios and her husband Jamar Rockhead, his son Alan Rios, and his granddaughter (the apple of his eye) Jasmyn Rockhead. He also leaves behind his brother Luis Vazquez, and his sister in law Connie Vazquez; His niece and nephew Carmen Blanco, and (little Luis) Luis Vazquez the 3rd; His sister Carry Lopez, and his brother in law Alex Lopez; His niece and nephew Amanda Torres, and (little Alex) Alex Lopez the 2nd.

My dad, Jorge, worked for the City Of Hollywood as an Engineering Inspector for many years, from 1979 until 2006. He loved what he did and was well respected by all.

My dad was a great man. He was always authentic. He came from Cuba in December of 67. He told me when he first arrived that it "blew his mind" how different candies and olives we had here in the USA. He said that we had a million different kinds of olives; pitted, sliced, whole, etc. Also candy, we had all different types, where in Cuba, they only had a couple of candies and one type of olive.

My dad met his soulmate on January 25, 1976, in Winston Park, Kendal. She was with her sister, Denise. My dad was with his half-sister Rosy. They met at the pool hall by day, and making out at the lake by night. Cupid must have shot his arrow because it was love at first kiss. They got married on April 6, 1980, and by God's will, in my grandmother Fala's house, in a small ceremony and they were joined for life.

On September 12, 1981, they had a beautiful baby girl, Nichole. My dad's heart was filled with love and joy. He always said, when you have a child, that's the one person you would throw yourself in front of a speeding bullet for.

On March 23, 2012, they were blessed to have a granddaughter, Jasmyn, who was his whole world. He was very generous and did everything for her. Anything she wanted, he would make sure she had.

My dad loved rock & roll. His favorites were Jaco Pastorius and Jimmy Hendrix, who were bad-ass bass players. My dad would play any tune on a bass. From rock, salsa, jazz, R&B, and even Christmas carols (my favorite). He would play on weekends after cleaning the house. He was a part of many different bands. He performed at bars, pool halls, and small stages. He would go jamming with friends, (which I enjoyed) as a little girl. He and my husband, Jamar, would play together. Jamar said "he admired" how well my dad played the bass. They would share techniques and Jamar picked up some tricks on his guitar.

My dad then had his son, Alan Rios, on May 10, 1991. It was the most beautiful Mother's Day. They shared a love for video games.

He will be deeply missed by his family, his friends, and everyone that knew him.
