Jorge Vega Guerrero, born on April 19, 1950, in El Espejo, Guanajuato, Mexico, peacefully passed away on November 14, 2025. He lived a life filled with passion for his family, love for his community, and fondness for the game of baseball.
Raised in the close-knit surroundings of El Espejo, Jorge carried the values instilled in him by his beloved parents, Aurelio Vega and Guadalupe Guerrero. He held strong ties to his Catholic faith throughout his life, which guided him in his interactions with family and friends. Jorge's professional journey led him to work at Colter's BBQ, where he not only served delicious meals but also fostered relationships that resonated deeply with those who visited. His warmth and hospitality ensured that customers felt welcomed and valued, often returning not just for the food, but for Jorge's kindness.
Jorge was married to Connie Torres, sharing a life filled with love and cherished memories. Together, they raised three children: Maria "Charo" Vega, Jorge Alberto "Beto" Vega, and Guadalupe Crystal "Chiki" Vega. He took immense pride in his role as a father, teaching his children valuable life lessons, including the art of cooking, a skill that Chiki fondly remembers he bestowed upon her. His enthusiasm for cooking mirrored his passion for baseball; no family gathering was complete without his dedication to the Texas Rangers. Jorge's love for the game was infectious; he would often ask Charo to keep his son-in-law, Guillermo, updated on the latest scores and games.
Jorge found joy in spending time with his grandchildren: Guillermo "Baby G" Tinoco, Liliana "Lily" Tinoco, Marcus Vega, Aracelly "Chelly" Vega, and Angel Jeremiah Vega. They were a constant source of happiness for him, and he treasured every moment spent in their company. His family remains a testament to the love and commitment he exhibited throughout his life.
In addition to his family, Jorge's life was marked by a series of memorable stories and humorous moments. One notable instance recalls him sharing an amusing anecdote with Charo about her birth, highlighting the unique paths that life can take. The love he had for family gatherings was often amplified by the presence of mariachi music, allowing Jorge to celebrate significant moments in his life with the serenades that echoed his affectionate spirit.
Jorge's legacy will be honored during visitation and funeral services held at Chism-Smith Funeral Home in Irving, Texas on November 21, 2025. Visitation will begin at 3:00 PM and conclude at 7:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 5:30 PM, allowing all who knew him to pay their respects and celebrate his life.
