Jose Mauricio Ardón, 66, of West Orange, New Jersey, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on August 19, 2025, at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center.
Born in San Salvador, El Salvador, Mauricio was the son of Maria Isabel Ardón and Tiburcio Portillo. He immigrated to the United States seeking a better life and worked diligently as a truck driver for many years, supporting those he loved with dedication and strength.
Mauricio shared a life full of love and commitment with his wife, Candida Ardón, and was a proud father to his daughters Jessica, Jacqueline, and Emily Ardón. He especially cherished his role as grandfather to his granddaughter, Gabriella Arrieta, who brought him immense joy.
A man of strong faith and steady compassion, Mauricio was a faithful member of the Christian church. He was passionate about sharing the gospel and completed two missionary trips to El Salvador, where he donated Bibles to churches with limited resources. From 2018 to 2020, he had the honor of serving as a deacon at Amor Agrape Church in Roselle, New Jersey. He deeply enjoyed attending Sunday services and found great joy in fellowship with his church community.
Outside of work and worship, Mauricio enjoyed gardening, long walks with the family dog, Nina, and chatting with friends and neighbors. One of his lifelong dreams was to retire in his beloved homeland of El Salvador where he frequently traveled. His extroverted and generous spirit, along with his cheerful and playful sense of humor, will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
