Memorial service will be held at Laird Funeral Home on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at 11 am with Pastor Carmelo Martinez officiating.
Jose M. Arredondo passed away on Friday, October 31, 2025 at the age of 87 in Nacogdoches, Texas.
Jose M. Arredondo was born in a small town near Silao, Guanajuato on February 27, 1938. Although he never went to school, Jose helped his mother and siblings by selling goods on the streets of Guanajuato. As an adult, he taught himself to read and write and also took classes to learn English. He was always striving to better himself. He initiated his career in the bootmaking industry, designing and constructing custom boots. His love for this industry and talent got him promoted while working for Justin Boot Company, eventually bringing him to the US. He moved to Nacogdoches in 1987, where he worked at a local boot clinic. He was a bootmaker/repairman for the majority of his life. He also worked for Bright Coop Company as a welder where he retired at the age of 62 completing 16 years of faithfully working with Bright Coop. He enjoyed spending time with family, cooking, and loved spending time in his shop, making custom boots, leather sandals, leather belts, vests, handmaking rings out of silver quarters, designing monkeys from the seeds of peaches and creating sharks or birds out of cow horns. Jose will always be remembered for his big heart and his generosity. He would give you the shirt off his back if needed. Jose loved the Lord and because of this we have hope and certainty that we will see him again one day. He will be greatly missed!
He is survived by his daughter Cynthia Hernandez and husband Javier, daughter Natalie Arredondo, son John Arredondo and grandchildren, Lily Hernandez, Miguel Herrera, and Mattias Herrera, and ex-wife Susana Lopez.
