Le sobreviven con amor sus hijos Lázaro Ponce, Sofía Ponce, María Cristina Olivas, Marcelina Ponce, Virginia Ponce, Rosa Ponce y Adriana Ponce; además de sus queridos nietos y bisnietos, quienes fueron su mayor orgullo y alegría. José fue un hombre alegre, bondadoso y lleno de vida. Le encantaba bailar y disfrutar los momentos en familia. Siempre mostró un gran cariño por sus hijos y fue un ejemplo de fortaleza y amor. Su recuerdo vivirá por siempre en los corazones de quienes lo amaron.
