Jose M. Fonseca
"Beloved husband, father & grandfather"
Jose M. Fonseca, 84, of Oakville, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 11, 2023 at Waterbury Hospital surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Lucia Graca (Antunes) Fonseca for 61 years.
Jose was born in Freixianda, Portugal on May 17, 1939, a son of the late Antonio and Felicidade (Joaquina) Fonseca. Before his retirement, Jose worked as a sub-contractor for Gary Santoro Contractors for 10 years and after as a stone mason for the Glengate Company in Wilton, CT for 10 years.
Besides his wife, Lucia Graca, of Oakville, Jose leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughters, Helena Fonseca of Oakville, CT, Madalena Simoes and her husband, Pedro of Oakville, CT, two grandchildren, Christopher and Andy Simoes, two sisters, Rosaria Joaquina and Conceicao Fonseca both of Freixianda, Portugal. He was predeceased by his brother, Manuel Fonseca and sister, Maria Joaquina.
Arrangements: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 14, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 2071 Baldwin St., Waterbury, CT. Entombment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery Queen of Peace Mausoleum. There are no calling hours. Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, CT has been entrusted with Jose's arrangements.
