Jose A. "Pete" Hizon, age 81, passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord on Saturday, January 1. Born in the village of Mexico in the Philippine province of Pampanga, Pete immigrated to the United States in 1968 and shortly thereafter married Dr. Asuncion "Sony" Hizon, his high school sweetheart whom he had followed to Chicago. Pete was the loving father of Faye (Chris) Nybo, Brian (Anne) Hizon and the late infant John Paul Hizon; the cherished grandfather of Connor, Olivia, Allison, Benjamin, and Adam; the dear brother of Jaime, Carmelita, Josefino and Jovencio and the late Jesus, Maria Victoria, Javier, Maria Theresa, Jacinto, and Julio; the fond brother-in-law of Lita (John) Diaz, and an uncle and great-uncle of many. Pete was a proud retiree of the Montgomery Ward Corporate Office and served honorably as the former President of Circulo Capampangan, an organization celebrating the cultural heritage of his native Philippine province. Visitation Thursday, 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Gibbons Funeral Home, 134 South York Road, (½ mile North of Saint Charles Road), Elmhurst. Friends and family will meet Friday for a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 9:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 134 Arthur Street, Elmhurst. Interment Private. Live stream of the funeral Mass will be available through the funeral home website.
