de la FUENTE, JOSE "Joe" of Ortonville, unexpectedly passed away on January 30, 2025, at 78 years of age. Loving husband of Kimberly (nee Baker) for 38 years, and the late Sandra (nee Farnsworth); dear father of Joanne (Gary) Hickey, Jose "Tony" de la Fuente, Jr., and Tenchie de la Fuente; Grandpa Joe of Alexa (Chasey), Jose III, Amyre, Leah (Larry), A.J., and Taylor; great grandpa Joe to 17; brother of Javier (Bonnie) de la Fuente, Jaime (Roxanne) de la Fuente, Manuel (Sandra) de la Fuente, Martha (the late Robert) Elliott, Hortencia (Lazaro F.) de la Fuente, and Ileana (Paul) Ellis. Preceded in death by his parents Manuel and Elma de la Fuente, sister Alma Marroquin, and granddaughter Ilicia Lopez. Jose was born in Mercedes, Texas and moved to Pontiac, Michigan to work at General Motors. He retired from GM in 2007 after 40.4 years of dedicated service. He was a true athlete and physically fit. He enjoyed golfing with the Azteca Golf Club, bowling, racquetball, and jogging was his passion; always saving room to feed his sweet tooth. Whenever he came to visit, he always asked "got any candy?" He was an avid collector, from cowboy boots to watches, and anything with an eagle on it. He was particular and meticulous with a good sense of humor. He was a devout Jehovah's Witness, who will be forever loved and missed until we meet again. Fly high with the Eagles Dad!!! Memorial service will be held Saturday, February 8, 2025 at Jehova's Witnesses, 6400 Clarkston Rd, Clarkston. To Zoom service ID: 501 294 4808; password: 640000. Arrangements entrusted to Coats Funeral Home-Waterford.
