He was raised in the 2nd ward but briefly lived in Montebello CA, Juarez Mexico then set his roots in the Lower Valley. He was a proud Bowie Bear alumni. He was a proud member and past President of the Bel Air Optimist for over 20 years.He was was a beloved husband, a devoted father, a hard worker, a good provider, a good grandfather and a amazing great grandfather. As a grandfather, he was always his grandkids biggest fan in all aspects of life. His greatest accomplishment and most prized possesion was his family and he took great pride that. He was a great storyteller, and his mischievious contagious laugh will be greatly missed. He loved cruising with the oldies blasting and his song request was always "last night by the Mar Keys" He was a jack of all trades and there wasnt anything that he didnt know how to fix, no matter how unusual his methods were. Speaking Rock was his favorite place to be, If he wasnt anywhere to be found, we knew we can find him there. There wasnt anything he loved more than the Dallas Cowboys. There also wasnt anything he hated more than the Dallas Cowboys. He went by many names Joe, Cowboy, Grumpy Joe, Mr. D, Grandpa, Dad. Everyone has their own story about what they chose to call him. No matter what name you chose to call him he always left a unique ipact in everyones life.
He is proceeded in death by his parents Jose and Juanita De La Luz. His sisters Martha De La Luz, Esther Perez and Raquel Muela.
Survived by his devoted wife Rosa Argelia De La Luz. His children Rose De La Luz, Jose Luis II/Claudia De La Luz, Argelia/Rogelio Carreon, Adrian De La Luz, Jenny De La Luz/Guero, Andrew/Melinda De La Luz. His Grandchildren Adrian and Ayden Lazcano, Crystal Varela, Jessica Barraza, Jose Luis III De La Luz, Lil Roger, Anthony and Hannah Carreon, Lil Jenny De La Luz, Alexis, Amber and Angel Guzman. Great Grandchildren Tori De La Luz, Izzy De Luz Sanchez, Alaina Varela, Mia Barraza, Kaleb Rumph, Kamilah Tatum. His sisters Luz Elena Chavez, Sylvia De La Luz, Soledad De La Luz/Gary Romero, Erendira De La Luz, his brothers Ruben De La Luz and his best friend Javier De La Luz. Dearest to his heart Sergio and Brenda Gonzalez.
