Jose Carlos Lacerda entered into heavenly rest on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at the age of 70. Jose was born in Cedros, Faial Island, Azores on January 14, 1953 to his parents, Jose Carlos and Maria Helena Lacerda. He spent his adolescence in Cedros, where he graduated from high school and met his wife, Lucilia Fatima Lacerda. He fell in love with her and followed her to the United States. At the age of 26, he migrated from Faial to Turlock, CA to be with her. The two were married on February 23, 1981 at Starlite Chapel in Reno, NV.
In Turlock, he started working at dairies, then Foster Farms, and finally in maintenance. He was always a hard worker and continued to work up until the time of his passing. His hard work and dedication reflected in the love he had for his family. Jose was a member of Festa Espirito Santo and Nosa Senhora Fatima Arcata. When Jose wasn't working, he found a lot of joy in fishing and spending time with his dog, LeeLee. More than anything, he had SO much love for his grandkids.
Jose was preceded in death by his parents, Jose Carlos and Maria Helena Lacerda. He leaves behind his wife of 42 years, Lucilia Fatima Lacerda; his son, Ricardo (Sandy) Lacerda; his daughter, Helena (Blake) Gonsalves; his grandchildren, Kindrick Lacerda, Ricardo Jr. Lacerda, Ayla Lacerda, Bella Gonsalves, Brayden Carlos Gonsalves; his sisters, Maria Fatima Fialno and Maria Olivia Lacerda; his step-sons, Frank Silvera, Paul (Fatima) Silvera; and his step-grandchildren, Gabriella Silvera, Jake Silvera, and Isabelle Silvera.
A recitation of the rosary and funeral mass will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 15, 2023 at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church. Following the services, Jose will be laid to rest at Turlock Memorial Park.
