Jose Lopez Vargas 71, of Odessa, passed away Thursday October 23, 2025, at Midland Memorial Hospital. He was born October 20, 1954, in Acaponeta Nayarit, Mexico to Esteban and Herminia Lopez Vargas. He married Graciela Fuentes in Odessa, Texas. Jose enjoyed all types of music, playing cards, spending time outside in the yard, he was an avid Texas Longhorns fan. He was a family man and enjoyed life very much. He will be missed by all who know him.
He is preceded in death by his parents Esteban and Herminia Vargas. wife Graciela Fuentes Vargas,
Jose is survived by his daughters Vanessa Vargas, Angel Vargas and Anna Escobedo from Odessa, sons Jaime, Ruben, Leo, Rylind, Jose Vargas II, Anthony Fuentes and Jose Vargas all of Odessa.
Jose also leaves to cherish his memory twenty-seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and several friends.
Visitation has been set for Thursday October 30, 2025, from 1pm-9pm with a prayer service from 7pm -8pm at Martinez Funeral Home chapel.
Funeral services are set for 10am Friday October 31, 2025, at Impact City Church 914 N Texas Ave, Odessa, TX 79761, with Pastor John Carranko officiating.
Burial will follow at Ector County Cemetery Odessa II section.
Pallbearers are Jose Vargas, Jaime Vargas, Ruben Vargas, Leo Vargas, Rylind Vargas, and Adan Marquez.
We, the Vargas family, would like to express our most sincere gratitude to the Davita Kidney Care staff, Heart to Heart Hospice staff, and Midland Memorial Hospital staff for all the care that was provided to dad during his stay.
