JOSE ISRAEL MEJIAS

Jose Israel Mejias, 36, was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico on September 27, 1977 and went home to be with the Lord on December 4, 2013 in Long Beach, following a tragic accident. Jose Israel Mejias Correa was a beloved son, father, brother, uncle, boyfriend and friend to all. Jose was a computer engineer, serving as a Field Support Analyst-Special Projects Lead for CompuCom traveling all around the United States repairing and renovating Well's Fargo's equipment; all after working with the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department as a Community Service Officer (CSO). Jose was outstanding in school and at work, and he always supported and helped his family, friends and whomever asked in various ways. He was a kind-hearted and unique individual who always liked to do things with excellence, just like his father. Jose would tutor and help his 12 year old nephew David with homework and spent plenty of astounding quality time with his daughter of 18 years by hanging out and engaging in new and different activities. He went with the Lord Jesus Christ, whom He loved and served, while helping in the church. Jose is a Pastor's son, who was doing really well and reaching higher heights in life. He was always missed when he was away on business and his presence was always felt. He will dearly be missed forever. The world has lost someone whom shouldn't have left. We can only rely on the faith that we will see him once more in heaven. My Dad was an adventurer who loved helping people by listening, encouraging and imparting his wisdom. He was a lover of knowledge, especially math, and loved the color orange. He was a firm believer that everything happened for a reason. He loved football and boxing; watching boxing became a family tradition - it was always my dad, my grandpa and me. He was very charismatic; he could've been anybody's friend, because he was that guy. He was a very determined man. Although sweet and kind, he loved comedic shows such as the Simpsons. He became a dreamer and always encouraged me to dream. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 from 6:00-11:00 pm at Ministerio Bautista Logos Church, 901 E. South St., Long Beach, CA. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at 10:00 am, also at the Church with interment following at Forest Lawn Cypress. Jose is survived by his daughter, Breann Mejias of Downey, his father and second mother, Jose and Cendy Mejias of Downey, his mother, Edmee Correa of Downey, his sisters, Elisabeth, Stephanie and Jacquelyn Mejias, all of Downey and his nephew, David J. Ramirez of Downey. He also leaves his girlfriend, Sonia Sanchez. Condolences may be sent to the family through our web site.
