Jose "Joe" Refugio Garcia Sr. was born in Dallas, Texas on August 23, 1948 and passed away unexpectedly on March 2, 2020. He is survived by his three children Joseph R. Garcia Jr. and spouse Melissa, Paula Oxford and spouse Will and Jodie Annette Wood (Peeps) and spouse Jeff. Grandchildren, Austin Lynch, Tessla Tucker, Kassie Robinson, Cody Wood Taylor and Shane Taylor. Siblings, Belinda Torres, Theresa Garcia Martinez, Nancy Moya, Bobby Garcia, Anita Garcia Ovalle, Sylvia Sanchez, Timothy Garcia, Vickie Garcia and Yolanda Mendoza. Joe also had 18 great grandchildren he loved spending time with.
Joe enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and had a passion for music as he played the drums in a band for many years of his life. He loved many things including the Dallas Cowboys, cheesecake, watching movies and family gatherings. He was very talented at wood working, bronzing and raising pigeons and doves. As an adolescent he was a paper boy and then went on to join the United States Marine Corps as a teenager. At 19 years old he served a metal of honor for retrieving a woman from her burning house. He was a hero to many and he will missed by his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father Ralph Garcia, mother Guadalupe Gomez and brother Ernest Sanchez.
Memorial services will be held at Eastgate Funeral Home on Saturday March 7, 2020 at 10 am. Visitation will begin at 9 am. The address is as follows:
