Jose Rei Obituary

Jose J. Rei, 62, of East Hartford, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 24, 2023. Born in Portugal, son of the late Jose D. Rei and Maria (Da Conceicao) Rei, he was a longtime East Hartford resident and a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Hartford. Jose was always a dedicated and hardworking person. He was employed with the Hartford Courant 3rd shift for 43 years while also working another job providing for his family. He enjoyed movies, music, especially classic rock, and all things in the Portuguese culture, cuisine, and vacationing in Algarve. He was an avid Rams and Red Sox fan and enjoyed watching soccer as well. He will be remembered as never saying a bad word about anyone, and for his giving and caring heart. Jose leaves the love of his life, Cristina Rei of East Hartford, his son, Philip Rei of East Hartford, and his two sisters, Susana Da Conceicao and her husband Manuel of CA, and Maria Ascenso and her husband Rui of Burlington. He also leaves his two nieces, Christine Sousa and her husband Paulo of CA, and Lauren Santiago of NJ, and many other extended family members including his close cousin, Edisio Semeo of PA. My condolences to the family of Joe Rei. I worked side by side with Joe for 13 years and we were each others right hand man. He was a very private and proud man of not many words. But, when he did speak he spoke glowingly of his family, Portugal, and sports. Although he is ln longer with us physically the memories of him and his spirit will continue to flow in those of best who loved him and knew him best. RIP Joe.

My deepest condolences to Christina, Philip and his other family members. We will miss you and you still are part of our conversations during holiday gatherings of Frenchy and I when we talk about our youth years. The 3 musketeers as some people called us. We have in past seen pictures of ourselves for one very memorable new year's eve at Farmington hotel with us as couples. We remember those times because we are getting older but we do not forget you or how important you were as friend.
Life and Time has separated the 3 musketeers but you were never forgotten my dear friend.
Until another time Jose Rei from your friend Jose Coelho
