José Martín Reta, passed away on November 3, 2024, at the early age of 56. He was born on December 30, 1967, in Harlingen, Texas.
José served his country honorably in the United States Coast Guard for ten years demonstrating courage and dedication; conducting numerous drug interdiction operations and multiple search and rescue missions. Following his military service, he had a successful law enforcement career serving as a security officer for the Elizabeth City Coast Guard Base. José was also an automobile enthusiast and lover of classic cars, which later led him to work as an automotive parts and service specialist.
José was a man of integrity and faith with his family being the most important thing in his life. He leaves behind a legacy of love, generosity and selfless dedication to his cherished wife, Holli; his beloved daughters, Alicia Reta, Brittany Harmon, Sabrina Keating; his wonderful grandchildren, Makayla, Colton, and Konner; and his dear sisters, Dominga, Eloísa, San Juanita, and María (Keith). He was also a proud uncle of many beloved nieces and nephews. José was a loyal and devoted friend counting Jason and Casey Rowland among his chosen family. José was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Delia Gonzalez, and his father, Alberto Reta.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 6:00 pm on Friday, November 15, 2024, at The Nixon Tea Room, 122 Foxboro Drive, Elizabeth City, NC.
The Reta family appreciates your thoughts and prayers during this time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made in his memory to DAV – Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301 (www.dav.org).
