Josef Piekos Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels & Cremation Services on Sep. 26, 2024.
Josef J. Piekos, Jr., aged 69, of Enfield, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2024, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born in Adams, Massachusetts, on September 8, 1955, Joe was the beloved son of the late Josef and Helen (Gorney) Piekos.
A gifted and meticulous mechanic, Joe spent much of his career working on a local tobacco farm, where he not only maintained and repaired farm vehicles but restored equipment of such high quality that it seemed to belong in a museum. Among his proudest accomplishments was constructing a working model of the first articulating tractor, originally designed and built from scratch by his father and uncle. This creation reflected not only his mechanical expertise but his dedication to honoring his family's legacy.
Joe's life was deeply enriched by his companion and therapy cat, Sophie, whose constant presence and affection brought him immeasurable comfort, particularly during his most challenging medical struggles. Their bond was a testament to the healing power of love and companionship.
He leaves behind a large and loving family, including his sisters Donna Piekos and Joanne Loesch; his brothers Thomas Piekos and his wife Carrie (Dwight), Francis Piekos and his ex-wife Lee (Rogers), and James Piekos and his wife Ann (Nelson). Joe was also a cherished uncle to his nephews Matthew Langeway and his wife Alicia (Allaire), Christopher Piekos, and his nieces Stephanie Piekos and her husband David Jesensky, Jennifer Piekos and her partner James Shoup, and Katherine Piekos and her fiancé Ethan Brown.
In honor of Joe's life, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Enfield EMS, 1296 Enfield St., Enfield, CT 06082. Private services will be held by the family to celebrate Joe's life. Arrangements have been entrusted to Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels. Online condolences may be shared at www.leetestevens.com.
