Mr. Joseph "Joe" Anthony Dean

Mr. Joseph "Joe" Anthony Dean, 64, Hallsville, passed away peacefully surrounded by family Saturday, December 14, 2024 at his home after a hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born Thursday, October 13, 1960 in Charleston, WV., a son of Bill and Barbara (Holtshouser) Dean.



At the age of 13, he moved to White Settlement, Texas where he attended Brewer High School and received his GED. He later joined the Texas Army National Guard in 1979, and then transferred to the US Navy in 1980. During his time in the Navy, Joe served on the USS Fulton Submarine Tender in Connecticut, and the USS Impervious Minesweeper in Florida until 1983.

On Saturday, December 29, 1979 he was united in marriage to the love of his life: Kelly Dawn Clark who survives at their home.

Joe owned Texas-Dean Construction; a remodeling company in Fort Worth, TX.; he later partnered with Mike Leo to form Two Old Handymen. After moving to Missouri, he worked at Menards.



He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years: Kelly; mother: Barbara Dean; daughter: Licia Lewis and husband Rodney; several bonus kids; mother in law: Betty Clark; sisters: Cindy Vandament and husband Steve, Kathy Doerr and husband David; sister in law: Betty Tankursley and husband David; brothers: Bill Dean and wife Lindy, Kenny Dean and wife Robin, Kellen Dean and wife Kristie; grandchildren: Tony Lewis and his fiancé Faith, Garrett Lewis; along with bonus grandkids: Alex Brinley and girlfriend Halie, Marea Bradshaw and boyfriend Kevin; great grandchildren: AJ and Emma; several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He was a beloved Husband, Father, Papaw, Brother, Uncle, and friend to all who will be deeply missed.

He is preceded in death by his father: Bill Dean; infant son: Michael; brother: Jim Dillard; nephew: Matthew Dean; father in law: Tommy Clark; business partner: Mike Leo; and several "brothers and sisters" that have gone before him.

A Celebration of Joe's Life will be Monday, January 20, 2025 from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. at the Destiny Pointe Church - 1900 Providence Rd. Columbia, MO 65202. An additional service with Military Honors will be held in Texas at a later date.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to Welcome Home of Columbia, to support our homeless veterans; or Toys for Tots to help bring a smile to a child's face.

Joe was passionate about motorcycles. His final wish was to be cremated and carry out his dream ride to South Dakota to visit Sturgis, Deadwood, Crazy Horse, and Mt. Rushmore - We ride in July 2025!
