Joseph Samuel "Joe Sam" Babb, a beloved father, brother, and friend, passed away on December 13, 2024, at the age of 59. Born in Melbourne, Florida, on June 10, 1965, Joe was known for his quick wit, infectious humor, and an ability to make everyone around him feel like family. He was a kind and gentle soul whose heart was as warm as his laughter.
Joe grew up in Melbourne, a place he loved and felt most comfortable. He always found his way back there throughout his life. A graduate of the University of Central Florida with a degree in psychology, Joe later pursued his passion for healthcare, earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Science in Nurse Anesthesia in 2001.
To those who knew him well, Joe's humor was one of his most endearing qualities. He had an uncanny ability to mimic skits and impersonations, often leaving friends and family roaring with laughter. His playful spirit and quick wit were a hallmark of his personality. His humor, combined with his kindness, left a lasting impression on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Joe also enjoyed participating in fantasy football, awaiting each season with the same excitement and competitive spirit, even though he grumbled at the increasing tech-driven complexity of the game. He was always eager to share a good-natured victory or a well-timed jab with his fellow league members.
Joe is survived by his daughter Naomi, who is his greatest joy and the light of his life; her mother, Kim; his sister Nancy and her husband Frank; and his five nieces and nephews: Grace, Frank, Claire, Kate and Luke who adored their Uncle Joe. He is preceded in death by his parents: Joseph M. Babb, and Susie and Richard Coolong. To his family, Joe was a source of love and support, always ready with a listening ear, a laugh, or a word of encouragement.
Joe's legacy is one of laughter, warmth, and unwavering kindness. He made life brighter for all who knew him, and his memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
Rest in peace, Joe. You were one of a kind, and you will be deeply missed.
A memorial service will be held for Joe at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 18th at Beach Funeral Home in Indian Harbor Beach. A reception will follow at 1:00 at Grills Riverside Melbourne. Joe will be laid to rest at Florida Memorial Gardens in Rockledge.
