Joseph P. Balestrieri

Joseph Paul Balestrieri, 71, of Greensburg, died Monday, Sept. 1, 2025, in his home. He was born Nov. 16, 1953, in Mt. Pleasant, a son of the late John Joseph and Angela Giovanna Corona Balestrieri. Joe graduated from Southmoreland High School and retired after 20 years of service to the PA State Corrections as a corrections officer. He was a member of St. Vincent Basilica Parish and enjoyed weightlifting in his younger years and watching sports and crime shows. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Ruth Ann Pevarnik Balestrieri; siblings, Michelle Balestrieri of Encino, CA, and John Balestrieri of Cleveland, TN; his wife's twin brother, John Paul Pevarnik of Latrobe; a special cousin, Carol Peitz of Greensburg; along with a host of other cousins and extended family. He leaves behind his pets, Valentina, Isabella, Sophia Loren, and Francesca. Relatives and friends of Joseph will be received 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, Sept. 5, 2025, in CLEMENT L. PANTALONE FUNERAL HOME INC., 409 W. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg, PA 15601, (724) 837-0020. A funeral Mass is to be celebrated at 12:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 6, 2025, in St. Vincent Basilica, Latrobe. Interment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Greensburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society of Westmoreland County, 139 Humane Society Road, Greensburg, PA 15601. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of Heartland Hospice for their loving care that was shown to Joe during his last days.
