Joseph Banks Jr, better known as Joey, 54 passed away on September 23, 2024, with family surrounded by his side.
Joey was born June 9, 1970, in Kansas City, MO to Jasper and Geneva Banks. He grew up in Kansas City, MO in a big family, the youngest of 11 but surely the most protective. He was educated in the KCMO School District.
Joey accepted Christ in his life at an early age and always remembered to pray and keep his faith.
Joey was Employed with Dean Caterpillar and MC Realty Group as their Building Maintenance Manager. He enjoyed barbecuing and inviting everyone over on Sundays to show off his cooking. He also enjoyed watching football and celebrating when the Denver Broncos beat the Chiefs.
Joey loved being surrounded by family in his home and always kept it real.
As we gather to remember Joey, let's not forget his legendary ability to always be right in every situation, while allowing us to all embrace life with laughter. As they would say, "If you can't laugh at yourself, you're missing out on half the fun!"
Joey was preceded in death by his Father Jasper Banks and Niece Dana Brown to preceded in death. He leaves to cherish his memories with his children Natasha Banks, Richard McCoy, Shannon Kearney (Jimmy), Nakita Banks, Shameka Moore, Loretta Washington, Jo'Wan Banks, Joseph Banks ll, and 14
grandchildren.
His mother Geneva Banks, Siblings, Lee Goggins, (Patricia) Lillie Banks, David Banks (Beverly) Janice Ray (Kenneth) Barbara Banks, Deborah Brown, Phyllis Banks, Evelyn Archie (Stan) Teresa Banks, Calvin Banks (Danielle) and a host of Uncles, Aunts, Cousins, Nieces, Nephews and Friends.
Funeral services Friday, October 11, at11:00am at Christian Fellowship Church. Interment Forest Hill Cemetery Visitation 10:00am-11:00am at the church. Arrangements entrusted to Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapels. Condolence may be shared on our website lawrenceajones.com.
