Joseph Max Bargar, 73, died peacefully on September 2, 2024, in Charlotte, North Carolina. Born May 21, 1951, Joe was the eldest of four children born to Max and Louise Bargar of Delaware, Ohio.
He is predeceased by his parents and younger brothers Dale and wife Susan; and Bill, who passed away recently in Delaware. Joe is survived by his wife, Beth, of Charlotte, North Carolina; sister Patricia (Bargar) and brother-in-law Brad Smith of Delaware; Beth's sister Cris Cox of Hilliard, Ohio; and many members of the extended families.
The Bargar family is widely remembered as proprietors of Bargar Jewelry in Delaware from 1957-2014.
Joe graduated from Rutherford B. Hayes High School in 1969 and from Ohio State University in 1975.
Joe and his wife of 42 years, Beth, moved to Charlotte in 1983, where Joe began a career in transit bus and coach sales. Disliking retirement, he also worked in other service industries until his cancer diagnosis in November 2023.
He enjoyed life and would wish peace to all who remain. Joe was active in his church and will be missed by those who knew him. A celebration of life will be scheduled later.

Beth, I'm so sorry to hear of your loss of Joe. I'd lost contact with you guys for many years, but spent the last few months looking for old friends to visit as Penny and I just retired. I hope you don't mind that I shared Joe's obit to a Orion Bus Industries page as he had many friends there. Again, so sorry for your loss. Dave and Penny Massey Camden, NY.

I've thought about this for weeks, wanting to write something completely rude and obnoxious that would have Joe laughing from the Great Beyond. I can't come up with anything appropriate. Joe was my brother-in-law for 42 years. I think I liked him more than my own family (I'm kidding, Beth!). When he and Beth were dating, he somehow convinced me to swallow a raw egg, without breaking the yolk. He said it would make me smart. I don't think it worked. I still intend to get you back for that, Joe!

Joe was definitely one of a kind. When I think of him, I can hear his laugh. I have a plethora of memories and stories that I'll cherish after working with Joe for about 10 years. Prayers to his loved ones.

I worked with Joe at Forest Lawn West and the Care Center. Joe always had a smile on his face anytime you saw him. I can still hear is laugh! My kids and I got to hang out at his pool with his wife and other friends, very welcoming and was a fun time/memory that I´ll always have. Godspeed Joe! We will see you again.

Joe took me on my very first motorcycle ride and many, many rope swing rides in the fabulous Bargar backyard. This family could not be any dearer to me. All my love to Patty Lou and Beth.
