Joseph Beitz

Joseph P Beitz, of Bluffton, SC, entered into rest peacefully at home on August 7, 2025. Joe is survived by his wife of 38 years, Ellen Beitz. He was the devoted son of the late Franklin and Marjorie Beitz, born in Buffalo, NY. He was one of eight children: Francis Beitz, John (Carole) Beitz, Marjorie (Robert) Bennett, Michael Beitz, Daniel (Christine) Beitz and the late Thomas (Tricia) Beitz and Maureen (Paul) Craver. He was a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Joe had a successful career in financial reinsurance, locations including Bermuda, Connecticut and New York. His career also included starting his own consulting business.

As a lifelong boating and scuba diving enthusiast, he was forever adventurous. His exploits provided material for fantastic stories that he enjoyed recalling to friends and family. He loved travel and was always drawn to the ocean. Joe was especially fond of his time spent at their summer home in Wilson, NY, boating on Lake Ontario, as well as time in Bermuda enjoying water activities.

Joe will be remembered for his optimism and quick wit. He was able to find the humor in every aspect of his life. In addition, Joe could make you laugh on your worst day. He also had a gift of putting people at ease and made friends wherever his travels took him. He especially valued time spent with his lifelong high school friends.

A Celebration of Life will be planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to charity of choice.
