Joseph Lee Blackmon, Jr. lovingly known as Joey, entered into Heaven on Saturday, October 28, 2023, while in Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center; he was 66 years old.
Joey was born on September 19, 1957, son of the late Joseph Lee Blackmon, Sr. and Delores Louise Linton Blackmon. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Wanda Lee Norris Blackmon, and his sister, Peggy Blackmon.
Joey was a faithful member of Chadbourn Church of God; he enjoyed singing praises unto God and he was an avid fisherman.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at Worthington Funeral Home, with Pastor Jonathan Simmons officiating. Burial will follow in the Soles Cemetery, Tabor City.
The family will greet friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday evening, at the funeral home.
The surviving family includes two sisters, Lori Woodard of Chadbourn, Lynda Pero of Saginaw, Michigan; nephew, A.J. Woodard (Amanda) of Chadbourn; nieces, Gracie Woodard and Melanie Woodard, both of Chadbourn and Kelly Dalton of Saginaw, Michigan; great-nephew, Nicholas Woodard, and numerous nieces and nephews on his wife's side of the family.
