Joseph Earl Boyd Sr., 83, of Crab Point, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at Pruitt Health - Trent in New Bern.
A funeral service to honor Earl’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, January 12th at Munden Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Bill Klear. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Earl was born on August 4, 1942, in Morehead City, NC, to the late Lonnie and Margaret Boyd. Early in life, he worked as a commercial fisherman before transitioning to his lifelong career as a truck driver. Earl was known as a hardworking man whose strong work ethic, dedication, and perseverance defined both his career and his life.
Those remaining to cherish his memory are his children, Joseph Earl Boyd Jr. and wife Karen, Joseph Ernest “Ernie” Boyd and wife Angela, and Kimberly Boyd Davis and husband Stacy, all of Morehead City, NC; brother, Lonnie Boyd and wife Carolyn of Richmond, VA; grandchildren, Jason Martin Boyd, Kristen Boyd and husband Kody McGlamery, Gaston Davis and wife Anna, Patricia Hunnings and fiancé Josh Fulcher, Stacy Davis III and wife Rebecca, Hilary Davis; and great grandchildren, Greyden, Addisyn, Cohen, Gabriel, Dane, Camden, and Lyla.
In addition to his parents, Earl was preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Frances Loraine Boyd who passed away in 2015.
