Joseph Carey Bullock

Stonington - Joseph Carey Bullock of Stonington passed away Nov. 29, 2024 with family by his side following a courageous battle with leukemia. Joe was born May 23, 1949, in Norwich. He was predeceased by his parents, Oliver and Caroline (Notarangelo) Bullock.

After graduating from Norwich Technical High School, Joe worked at Western Electric followed by a 35-year career at Electric Boat. Joe enjoyed camping, the Red Sox, lobster rolls, his 1966 Mustang, model trains, and most importantly time with his family. He looked forward to summer gardening and talked passionately about his favorite varieties of tomatoes. Boy Scouts was important to Joe throughout his life. He obtained the rank of Eagle Scout and continued his involvement with Boy Scouts as a leader in his son's Troop 76 in Mystic. Many summers were spent at Camp Yawgoog.

Joe is survived by his wife of 48 years Diane Bullock; son David Bullock (Jacqueline Simonis); daughter Karen Pruneda (Felipe); sisters, Carolyn Messier (Normand) and Marie Salpietro (George); nephews, Jason (Sarah) and Jeffrey Messier (Stacey); niece Stacy Salpietro-Babb (Wesley); and grandnephew Russell Babb.

The family would like to thank all the medical staff involved in his care, especially those at Smilow Cancer Hospital in New Haven and Westerly, and Grimes Center in New Haven.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, 2024, at the Mystic Funeral Home located on Route 1 in Mystic. The burial will be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Red Cross.
