(nee Nussmeyer)

Age 97, of Lockport passed away peacefully on Monday, November 24, 2025, with her family by her side. Born and raised in Joliet, lived in Tennessee, Chicago, Illinois, and a resident of Lockport since 1950. Graduated from Oak Ridge High in Oak Ridge, TN, Joliet Junior College, received a bachelor's in education from the College of St. Francis in 1971, and received a master's degree in education from Governors State University. Lois was a dedicated teacher at Oak Valley Elementary School, and Laraway Middle School for many years and retired in 1991.

Member of First United Methodist Church for 75 years. She enjoyed golfing and was a life master with bridge. But most of all she cherished spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard Gatlin (2003); parents, Henry and Lovell (nee Oldfield) Nussmeyer; her siblings, Ray Nussmeyer, Pearl (Thomas) Coffey, Jean (Leon) Miller, Shirley (Clyde) Clemons; son-in-law, Douglas Norman; and her brother-in-law, Bethel Poston II.

Survived by her two devoted children, Linda (fiancé Kim Sitzlar) Norman, and Sandra (Cliff) Ekkert; five adored grandchildren, Kellie Wujek, Andrew (Erin) Norman, Alex (fiancé Tina Eeles) Norman, Casey (Alex) Hall, and Kip (Sylvia) Ekkert; four loved great grandchildren, Parker Wujek, Wilder and Eleanor Hall, Shaw Ekkert; and one dear sister, Carol Poston.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Lightways Hospice in Lois's name would be greatly appreciated (DONATE).

Visitation will be held in the O'Neil Funeral Home Chapel 1105 E. 9th St. Lockport, IL 60441 on Friday, November 28, 2025, from 10:00am until time of Funeral Service at 12:00noon.
