Lenore Makeever Obituary

Died: December 3, 2024 in San Diego, CA
Lenore Milda (Brethorst) Makeever passed away on December 3, 2024 in San Diego, California at the age of ninety-eight. Born in Joliet on August 7, 1926, she attended Sheridan Elementary School, Farragut Junior High, Joliet Township High School, and Joliet Junior College. She married Robert Makeever in 1948 and together they raised three children: Gail, Donald and David.
Lenore held leadership positions in a variety of organizations, including the president of the Reedswood School PTA, Membership Chairman for the Illinois State PTA; president of the Clara Barton Guild and Religious Education Director at the Unitarian Church. She was the Administrative Secretary at the Montessori School for twelve years. Lenore also enjoyed fifteen years of volunteering at the Rialto Theater.
In 1999 Lenore moved to San Diego where her son Donald lives with his wife and children. She enjoyed the warmer climate, as well as baby-sitting her two grandchildren. She also has two grandchildren and two great grandchildren in Oregon. A gifted artist, she took up watercolor painting soon after moving to California, and over the years completed seventy-five paintings.
Lenore passed away on December 3, 2024 in San Diego at the age of ninety-eight. A memorial service was held in San Diego on February 22, 2024.
