Brenda Lynn Makeever

MANSFIELD: Brenda Lynn Makeever, 73 of Mansfield, Ohio passed away Saturday, June 28, 2025, surrounded by family and loved ones after a short battle with lung cancer.
She was born on September 21, 1951, in Mansfield, Ohio to Harley Hoover and June (Kennard) Hoover.
Brenda attended Madison high school and entered the workforce. She was employed at R.R. Donnelley and Sons, Westinghouse until it closed, and retired from Therm-O-Disc in 2019.
Brenda was most happy in circumstances that brought her family all together. She was completely invested in her grandchildren's lives. She especially loved organizing yearly canoe trips, snowmen, her Lily's, New Reigel ribs, The Guardian's baseball, puzzles, and of course pictures.
She loved Christmas most though, it was always the most amazing sight to see the overflowing piles of color coded presents as she loved spoiling everyone. She also took great pride in strategically placing each and every one of her thousands of Christmas lights with Gale's own 2 hands!
Brenda leaves behind her loving husband of 28 years, Gale Makeever of Mansfield;. Siblings Dave (Gina) Hoover of Ontario, Ohio, Mike Kennard of Flint, Michigan, and Rick Kennard of California, Angie (Larry) Hammett of Ontario, OH, Roger Tabor of Crestline, OH. She also leaves behind her children, Tracy (Sean) Cummings of Warner Robbins, GA, Phillip Oney of Mansfield, OH, Tara Puckett (Lake Salmons) of Ontario, OH, Travis (Sam) Puckett of Lexington, Ky. Stepchildren Ron (Nancy) Makeever of Galion, OH and Greg (Angie) Makeever of Galion, OH. Grandchildren Jake (Manda) Oney, Alex Choiniere (Haley Colson), Jeremy (Rachel) Oney, Ashton (Kaitlyn) Choiniere, Alaina Choiniere, Joel Oney, Aidan Choiniere, Kylie Williams (Zach Barney), Kerryn Williams (Dylan Kruty), Kahl Williams, Kenton, Grayson and Lincoln Puckett, and Lyric Cummings. Step-grandchildren Jake (Mandy) Makeever, Chelsea Makeever, Kayley (Blake) Miller and Gabe Makeever. Great-grandchildren Zoey Oney, Mason Barney, Riley Oney, Lucas and Kennedi Makeever.
Preceded in death by her father Harley (Jackie) Hoover, mother June (Floyd) Kennard, siblings Gene Hoover, Mike Kooken, Cindy Hoover, and Kimberly Hoover.
Her family will receive friends Wednesday, July 2, 2025 from 1-3 pm in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home where Brenda's funeral will begin at 3 pm. Pastor Jim Berry will officiate and burial will follow in Shauck Cemetery.
Brenda loved bright vibrant colors and lively plants. In her memory family and friends are encouraged to send to the funeral home, planted flowers that will continue to live long after her services.
For those friends and family opting to donate in her memory, donations may be made to OhioHealth Hospice, American Lung Association, or St. Jude's Children Hospital.
