Condolences to his wife and family,
I was able to have Coach Cap as my homeroom teacher for four years. He was a motivator. His enthusiasm was contagious.
He was constantly encouraging his students and players to reach their potential.
Many stories because he was a "superstar".
A true blessing in my life.

My deepest sympathy to the Capitano and Bergen families.
Joe was a fantastic Brick football coach and a better educator and person. I will always remember the fun times we had together coaching the sophomore and JV teams together.
He invented the Radar defense where all our linemen stood up instead of being in a 3 point stance. Drove the other teams crazy.
I loved him and I´ll always fondly remember Joe, Rosemary and the entire Bergen family.

It is with great sadness that I send my sincere condolences to Rosemary and the Bergin and Capitano families. I graduated high school with Rosemary and spent a number of fall seasons coaching with Joe. His players loved him and always gave 100% effort at every practice and every game. I was sorry when he left our staff. I will always remember him as fun loving and dedicated to his players and students.
RIP
