For many years, he owned and operated Doors and Things in Griffin where he installed and repaired garage doors. He enjoyed playing poker and on Monday nights he could be found at the Griffin Moose Lodge playing cards.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Joseph "Joey" Terry Chambers III and his granddaughter, Jessica Averett.
He is survived by his wife: Jeana Chambers; daughter: Amanda Blizzard (Paul); grandchildren: Kayla Chambers, Devin Powell, Levi Powell and Nicholas Blizzard.
